Viking Longships
Viking Longships are a class of cruise ships designed and operated by Viking River Cruises. The ships are designed to sail on Europe's inland waterways, including rivers such as the Rhine, Main, and the Danube. There are currently over 60 Viking Longships in operation, with each one able to accommodate up to 190 passengers. The ships are named after Norse gods and heroes, such as Odin, Freya, and Valhalla.
The exterior of the Viking Longships is designed to resemble a traditional Viking ship, with a sleek and slender hull and a distinctive bow. The ships are also equipped with a state-of-the-art propulsion system that allows them to navigate through shallow and narrow waterways with ease. Inside, the Viking Longships are elegantly appointed with Scandinavian-inspired decor. The ships feature spacious and comfortable staterooms, ranging from standard staterooms to suites with private balconies. All staterooms are equipped with modern amenities such as a flat-screen TV, a safe, and a private bathroom with a shower. The Viking Longships also have a number of common areas for passengers to relax and socialize, including a sun deck with lounge chairs and a rooftop terrace. There is also a dining room, where passengers can enjoy a variety of international and local cuisine, as well as a bar and a library. One of the highlights of the Viking Longships is their Aquavit Terrace, an outdoor area at the bow of the ship that provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the passing scenery. The Aquavit Terrace is equipped with a bar and comfortable seating, making it the perfect place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the river.
In addition to the amenities on board, Viking River Cruises also offers a variety of shore excursions at each port of call, giving passengers the opportunity to explore the local culture and history. The ships also have a team of knowledgeable tour guides who are on hand to provide information and assistance throughout the voyage.
